TLDR Finasteride for hair loss may cause erectile dysfunction due to tissue fibrosis, and various factors contribute to female sexual dysfunction.
This document contains two separate studies. The first study looked at eight men who developed erectile dysfunction (ED) after using finasteride for androgenic alopecia. The study found that all eight men had corporal erectile tissue fibrosis, which the researchers hypothesize is caused by low dihydrotestosterone (DHT) inducing corporal smooth muscle cells to undergo apoptosis and be replaced by corporal connective tissue. The second study was an online survey of women in the USA, which aimed to provide knowledge about sexual issues in the general population. The report found that there are several bio-psycho-social risk factors for female sexual dysfunction.
