Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) Awareness Among Female Students at Qassim University, Qassim Region, Saudi Arabia

    TLDR Most female students at Qassim University know about PCOS, but there are still misunderstandings about it.
    In a study conducted at Qassim University involving 350 female students aged 18-25, it was found that 71% were aware of Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), and 12% were diagnosed with the condition. The most frequently reported symptom was hair loss (74%), followed by mood swings (67%) and acne (61%), while voice change was the least common symptom (8%). Despite the high awareness, there were misconceptions about PCOS, indicating a need for improved education on the syndrome. Additionally, 62% of the students diagnosed with PCOS were undergoing treatments, including hormonal therapy and surgical interventions.
