Pathology in Practice: Pemphigus Vulgaris in a 7-Year-Old Mixed-Breed Dog

    TLDR A 7-year-old dog with a rare autoimmune disease was euthanized due to severe anemia and poor prognosis.
    A 7-year-old mixed-breed dog exhibited severe ulceration and inflammation of the paw pads, oral mucosa, and other areas, with extreme pain. Clinical and histopathologic evaluations diagnosed pemphigus vulgaris, a rare autoimmune disease in dogs. Despite treatment with immunosuppressive drugs and supportive care, the dog was euthanized due to severe anemia and poor prognosis.
