Palpable Purpura in an Elderly Man—Quiz Case

    TLDR The elderly woman experienced hair loss and scalp itching, especially at the front hairline, and lost her eyebrows.
    A 62-year-old white woman experienced a 1-year history of decreased hair density and scalp itching, particularly along the frontal hairline, and eventually lost both eyebrows. She was otherwise healthy, with a history of basal cell cancer and actinic keratoses, and had undergone a hysterectomy at age 65. She used vaginal estrogen cream and had no family history of androgenetic alopecia or other hair loss types.
