O-10 An Ovarian Thecoma Presenting With Post-Menopausal Virilization

This article discusses a rare case of ovarian thecoma, a benign tumor accounting for less than 1% of ovarian tumors, in a 53-year-old postmenopausal woman who presented with hirsutism and androgenic alopecia. Despite normal dehydroepiandrosterone-sulfate levels, the patient exhibited significantly elevated serum testosterone levels. Imaging revealed a 30x18 mm right ovarian mass consistent with thecoma. The study highlights that ovarian thecomas, which are most common in peri- and postmenopausal women, can cause mild virilization and other symptoms such as post-menopausal bleeding. Surgery is the primary treatment for virilizing thecoma.
