TLDR Minoxidil's benefits may decrease after two years of use.
The study observed the effects of minoxidil on hair growth over an extended period, noting a decrease in total hair counts between the 12th and 30th month of use, even among those with average and above-average responses. Initially, 149 subjects participated, but only 102 completed 12 months, and 89 completed two years. By the third year, only 54 subjects (50 men and 4 women) continued. The findings suggested that while minoxidil showed efficacy in promoting terminal hair growth, the benefits might diminish over time, highlighting the need for long-term studies to determine the optimal duration of therapy for maximum benefit.

Minoxidil helps hair growth by increasing blood flow and prolonging the growth phase, but it doesn't address the root cause of hair loss, such as DHT sensitivity. Finasteride can help maintain some gains by blocking DHT, but stopping Minoxidil often leads to hair loss because the new hairs are dependent on it.

Oral minoxidil can increase body hair growth, but effects differ among individuals. Some recommend topical minoxidil to prevent unwanted body hair while preserving scalp hair.

PP405 shows potential for hair growth, with 31% of advanced balding men experiencing over 20% increase in hair density in 8 weeks. However, skepticism persists due to selective data presentation and lack of long-term results, with comparisons to treatments like minoxidil and finasteride.
