TLDR A rare nail bed cancer was successfully treated with no recurrence after 4 years.
The document reported a case of a slowly growing malignant tumor in the nail bed epithelium of a 69-year-old male, which was proposed to be called 'onycholemmal carcinoma' due to its similarities with trichilemmal carcinoma. The tumor consisted of small cysts with atypical squamous epithelium and solid nests of atypical keratinocytes that penetrated the phalangeal bone. Treatment involved disarticulation of the affected phalanx, and no local recurrence or distant metastasis was observed over a 4-year follow-up period.
