This retrospective study compared platelet-rich gel (PRG) and tissue expansion technique (TET) for treating scalp defects in 24 patients. TET resulted in faster wound healing (13.58 days on average) compared to PRG (25 days on average) but was more costly and associated with higher postoperative pain. TET also promoted hair growth in 58.33% of cases, whereas PRG did not result in any hair growth. Both treatments achieved satisfactory wound healing without tissue depression or color difference. The study suggests PRG as a simple, painless, and cost-effective option for patients unable to undergo surgery, while TET offers quicker healing but involves surgical risks. Limitations include the small sample size and varied defect sites.
