The study developed a platform using 3D-printed agarose microwells to culture non-small cell lung carcinoma (NSCLC) cell spheroids for drug response studies. This method addressed the challenge of limited patient-derived material by creating uniform-sized spheroids with high viability using three NSCLC cell lines. The spheroids demonstrated clinically relevant responses to EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitors gefitinib and osimertinib. The results indicated that this platform was suitable for in vitro culture and drug evaluation, particularly when tumor samples were limited.
