TLDR A new compound from fermented papaya may help stimulate hair growth.
In 2018, researchers isolated a new aliphatic ester of hydroxysalicylic acid from fermented Carica papaya L. preparation, along with five known compounds, two of which were identified in papaya fruits for the first time. The newly discovered compound exhibited moderate antioxidant activity and showed significant potential to stimulate hair growth in vitro, suggesting its usefulness in treating alopecia and other hair loss conditions. The study did not mention the number of people or subjects, as it was centered on compound isolation and testing.
