The document described the structure of canine skin, which consisted of two main layers: the epidermis and dermis, functioning together as a single organ above the subcutis. The epidermis contained appendages such as hair, nails, claws, and various glands. The dermis was composed of a mesh-work of collagen, reticular, and elastic fibers, along with blood vessels, nerves, lymphatics, and pilary complexes. The subcutis, or hypodermis, was made up of loose collagenous connective tissue, elastic fibers, and extensive adipose tissue, supporting blood vessels and nerves.
