TLDR A young boy with Netherton syndrome improved significantly using IVIG, dupilumab, and dietary changes.
This case report describes the effective management of Netherton syndrome in a young boy using a combination of intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG), dupilumab, and dietary changes. Netherton syndrome, caused by mutations in the SPINK5 gene, results in skin barrier issues and immune problems. The patient, with a homozygous SPINK5 mutation, experienced significant improvement with this treatment, including reduced skin infections, improved skin integrity, decreased pruritus, lower serum IgE levels, enhanced quality of life, and promoted hair growth. The report highlights the potential of integrated therapies for managing Netherton syndrome and the importance of further research into targeted treatments.
