TLDR A neem-based herbal treatment worked better than ivermectin for sarcoptic mange in camels, improving their recovery and overall health.
The study found that a neem-based herbal formulation was more effective than ivermectin in treating sarcoptic mange in dromedary camels. The formulation, applied topically to six camels, resulted in complete recovery with new hair growth and no remaining skin issues, while 50% of the six camels treated with ivermectin still exhibited skin problems. Additionally, camels treated with the neem formulation showed increased feed intake, weight gain, and improved body condition. The study supports the neem formulation as a safe, cost-effective, and eco-friendly alternative for managing sarcoptic mange in camels.
