TLDR Nanomaterials can make hair care products work better and safer.
The document reviewed the advancements in nanomaterials for hair care and treatment, highlighting their potential to enhance the efficacy and safety of active compounds (ACs) used in hair cosmetics and treatments. Traditional hair care methods, including washing, dyeing, and anti-hair loss treatments, often faced challenges such as sub-optimal performance and toxicity. Nanomaterials, including polymer-based and lipid-based nanoparticles, as well as inorganic nanomaterials like nanoplates and nanotubes, offered solutions by increasing the stability, safety, and biocompatibility of ACs. They also improved hair affinity, contact, and retention, enabled controlled release of ACs, and provided targeted delivery to hair follicles. The review emphasized the promise of these innovative nanomaterials in maximizing hair care and treatment outcomes.
