TLDR Mycorrhizal fungi help trifoliate orange plants grow better roots and adapt to drought by changing hormone levels.
The study investigated the effects of mycorrhizal fungi on root-hair growth and hormone levels in trifoliate orange under drought stress. It was found that mycorrhizal fungi significantly enhanced root-hair growth and altered hormone levels in both taproot and lateral roots. The presence of mycorrhizal fungi increased the levels of certain hormones, which are associated with stress responses, thereby improving the plant's ability to cope with drought conditions. This research provided insights into the potential use of mycorrhizal fungi to enhance plant resilience to drought stress.
