TLDR Stopping tetracycline can lead to the disappearance of flat warts.
In 1975, two female patients experienced profuse hair loss, which was attributed to dramatic weight loss following weight reduction programs that included hormone injections and severe caloric restriction. The first patient, a 29-year-old woman, lost 11.8 kg after a diet and chorionic gonadotropin injections, while the second, a 33-year-old woman, lost 15.4 kg through a 500-calorie diet and amino acid concentrate injections. Both patients showed a high telogen hair ratio, suggesting that sudden weight loss can increase telogen ratio and cause hair loss. Additionally, the document reports on two young women with multiple flat warts on their faces that disappeared within two weeks after they stopped taking tetracycline, which had been prescribed for acne. This observation suggests a potential link between tetracycline use and the persistence of flat warts.
