TLDR The IPL device is safe, effective, and has high patient satisfaction for hair removal.
This study evaluated the efficacy of a new low fluence, constant spectrum IPL device for hair removal in 52 females across three European centers. One axilla was treated while the other served as a control. Patients received up to six treatments based on satisfaction levels, with clinical photography and grading of side effects and hair attributes. All participants completed the study, with 44 very satisfied and eight somewhat satisfied, resulting in an overall satisfaction score of 84.6%. Side effects were minimal, and hair regrowth was finer and lighter on the treated side. The device was most effective on coarse dark hair in darker skin and least effective on fine blonde hair in lighter skin. The IPL device was deemed safe, effective, well-tolerated, and had high patient satisfaction, though repeated sessions were necessary for some patients with lighter hair and skin.
