TLDR Wild boar bristles in Balıkesir vary in length and thickness but are unsuitable for species separation.
The study investigated the morphological and microscopic properties of wild boar bristles from the Balıkesir region using stereomicroscopy and scanning electron microscopy. Bristles from 3 wild boars showed significant variations in length and thickness across different body regions, with bifurcation typically occurring in the upper 1/3 part. The scanning electron microscopy revealed hardened, scaly cuticle patterns. Despite these detailed observations, the bristles were found unsuitable for species separation due to potential breakage in brushes. The findings contribute to the identification of wild boar hairs in the region.
