TLDR Nano-sized molybdenum may help treat hair loss and works well with minoxidil.
The study investigates the potential of nano-sized molybdenum as a topical treatment for alopecia by targeting oxidative stress pathways, which differ from those affected by minoxidil. Using a mouse model, the researchers found that nano-sized molybdenum accelerates hair growth, increases hair follicle numbers, and reduces oxidative stress markers like iNOS, COX2, and androgen receptors. The combination of molybdenum and minoxidil showed an additive effect in promoting hair growth. These findings suggest that nano-sized molybdenum, alone or with minoxidil, could be a promising treatment for hair loss, especially for patients unresponsive to current therapies. Further clinical studies are needed to confirm its efficacy and safety.

A 19-year-old male experienced hair shedding after one year on dutasteride and is considering adding topical minoxidil despite scalp itching. Users suggest continuing dutasteride, maintaining a consistent hair routine, and possibly increasing minoxidil dosage.
