Minoxidil Therapy in Refractory Hypertension Analysis of 155 Patients

The study analyzed the use of Minoxidil as a treatment for refractory hypertension in 155 patients. Minoxidil was found to be effective in lowering blood pressure, with a maximum effect occurring within the first 2 weeks of treatment. However, blood pressure tended to rise thereafter despite increasing doses of Minoxidil. The study also noted that Minoxidil was well-tolerated in most patients, but some experienced intolerable side effects and one patient died from cardiac arrest after 2 weeks of treatment. Overall, the study suggests that Minoxidil may be a viable alternative medical therapy for patients with refractory hypertension.
