TLDR Increasing the dosage of minoxidil can help hair regrowth in women who didn't respond to the standard treatment.
In this study, researchers investigated the effectiveness of increasing the dosage of topical minoxidil in female pattern hair loss (FPHL) patients who did not respond to the standard 5% minoxidil treatment. The study included FPHL subjects who were identified as non-responders to 5% minoxidil and treated them with a novel 15% topical minoxidil solution for 12 weeks. At the end of the study, 60% of the subjects achieved a clinically significant response in terms of hair regrowth, as well as significant improvement in global photographic assessment. None of the subjects experienced any significant adverse events. This study suggests that increasing the dosage of minoxidil may be beneficial for FPHL patients who do not respond to the standard treatment.
