TLDR Many young men with hair loss have low levels of vitamin D and B12.
The study involved 116 young men aged 18-30 years diagnosed with androgenetic alopecia (AGA) and telogen effluvium (TE). It was found that 62.06% of the patients had AGA and 37.93% had TE. Deficiencies of vitamin D, vitamin B12, and low ferritin levels were found in 54.3%, 45.6%, and 15.5% of the patients, respectively. The study concluded that vitamin D and B12 levels were generally lower in these patients, suggesting that these tests should be requested in male patients with hair loss as they could contribute to the treatment.
