TLDR Women with menstrual dysfunction often have deficiencies in magnesium, iron, and vitamin D.
The study aimed to investigate the association between micronutrient deficiencies and menstrual dysfunction (MD) in women of reproductive age. It included 50 women with MD and 30 with normal menstrual function. The study found that magnesium deficiency was significantly more common in women with MD (93% vs. 73%), with symptoms like headaches, irritability, dyssomnia, dizziness, decreased libido, and hair loss. Iron deficiency was also more frequent in the MD group (77% vs. 35.7%), as was vitamin D deficiency (45% vs. 20%). These findings suggest that monitoring and correcting micronutrient levels could be crucial in addressing endocrine imbalances and reproductive issues, potentially improving fertility in women with MD.
