Studysummary This study found that the patient receiving microneedling and platelet-rich plasma treatment showed earlier significant improvements and high satisfaction compared to the patient treated with microneedling and topical minoxidil. Our plain-language summary of this paper — not a Tressless recommendation.
A study compared the effectiveness of microneedling combined with platelet-rich plasma (PRP) versus microneedling combined with 5% topical minoxidil in treating male pattern hair loss. Two male patients, aged 33 and 34, with Hamilton-Norwood stage III and IV hair loss, respectively, underwent eight sessions of microneedling over six months. The patient treated with microneedling and PRP showed significant improvements earlier and reported higher overall satisfaction compared to the patient treated with microneedling and minoxidil. No serious side effects were observed in either treatment.
