Microneedling for Anterior Neck Surgical Scars: A Systematic Review of Effectiveness and Evidence Gaps

This systematic review found no direct studies on the effectiveness of microneedling for anterior neck surgical scars, indicating a significant gap in the literature. However, evidence from other body regions suggests microneedling can improve scar texture, pigmentation, and appearance by enhancing collagen remodeling. The review proposes that starting microneedling approximately six weeks post-surgery, with 3 to 6 sessions at a depth of 1.0-1.5 mm, may optimize outcomes for anterior neck scars. Further research, including randomized controlled trials, is necessary to establish clinical guidelines and confirm long-term effects.
