TLDR Diabetics have lower chromium, manganese, and copper, but higher iron in their hair.
This study analyzed hair samples from 98 subjects, including 47 non-immune-dependent diabetics and 51 controls, to measure levels of trace elements and macro-elements. The findings indicated that diabetics had significantly lower levels of chromium, manganese, and copper in their hair compared to controls, with P-values of 0.001 for each element. Conversely, iron levels were significantly higher in diabetics (P=0.023). No significant differences were observed in the levels of zinc, selenium, calcium, and magnesium between the two groups. These results aligned with findings from other researchers.
