TLDR The review indicates that understanding of long COVID symptoms is still limited and better research is needed for diagnosis and treatment.
The document reviews the long-term symptoms, or "sequelae," associated with SARS-CoV-2 infection, also known as long COVID (LC). Despite previous documentation, understanding of LC-related sequelae remains limited due to issues such as inadequate follow-up, methodological flaws, and heterogeneity among studies. There is a lack of robust evidence regarding the diagnosis and treatment of certain LC sequelae, which hinders effective patient management. The authors of the review aim to provide updated information on LC-related sequelae, focusing on the involvement of main organ systems, and suggest paths for future research based on current knowledge and their clinical experience.
