TLDR Localized trichorrhexis nodosa is a hair condition where hair becomes fragile and breaks easily due to damage.
Trichorrhexis nodosa was identified as a hair shaft disorder characterized by fragile hair with pale, node-like swellings due to injury. It could occur in normal hair after excessive trauma or with minimal trauma if there was a keratin synthesis defect. Diagnosis was clinical and microscopic, and treatment focused on reducing trauma. A case of localized trichorrhexis nodosa was described in a patient with otherwise normal hair.
