TLDR A supplement for hair loss with green tea in it may cause liver problems.
Nine years ago, a study reported three cases of liver toxicity associated with the use of Inneov masa capilar®, a dietary supplement intended to stop hair loss. The primary component of this supplement is green tea catechins. In all three cases, other potential causes of acute hepatitis were ruled out, suggesting a strong link between the supplement and the liver toxicity. The study emphasized the importance of awareness regarding these substances when taking medical histories, in order to identify and report hepatic adverse reactions secondary to herbs that are perceived as safe.
