TLDR Optimal hair heat protectant spreadability is achieved with 4% shea butter and coconut oil, and 0.64% cetostearyl alcohol.
This study investigates the impact of lipid components on the spreadability of hair heat protectants, which is crucial for effective thermal protection. Using a central composite rotational design, the research analyzed the spreadability of formulations containing cetostearyl alcohol, shea butter, and coconut oil, with concentrations ranging from 0.64% to 7.36%. The results showed that spreadability was significantly influenced by the concentration of these components (p < 0.05). Optimal spreadability was achieved with 4% concentrations of shea butter and coconut oil and a low concentration of cetostearyl alcohol (0.64%). These findings suggest that the formulation of heat protectants can be optimized to ensure adequate coverage and protection of the hair shaft.

The conversation discusses the potential of long-chain unsaturated fatty acids, like oleic and linoleic acid, as an additional treatment for hair loss, which may inhibit the enzyme responsible for converting testosterone to DHT and promote hair growth. Users humorously suggest using oils topically and discuss other hair loss treatments, but the main focus is on the science behind fatty acids and their role in hair health.

Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) impacts various skin conditions, including Androgenetic alopecia and seborrheic dermatitis, by causing overactivity in sebaceous glands. Topical medications Tacrolimus and Clobetasol can reduce these inflammatory conditions, and treatments like RU58841, Minoxidil, and Finasteride may also be beneficial.
