TLDR Minoxidil use may cause skin pigmentation loss.
The article reports on two cases of leucoderma, or loss of skin pigmentation, in patients who used 2% minoxidil lotion for androgenetic alopecia. The patients developed leucoderma on their scalp after 2.5 months and 7 weeks of using the lotion, respectively. Other possible causes of leucoderma were ruled out, and repigmentation occurred after discontinuing the use of minoxidil. The article suggests that minoxidil may have cytotoxic effects on pigment cells, but further research is needed to confirm this.
