TLDR LED therapy speeds up recovery and reduces swelling and bruising after rhinoplasty.
A study involving 60 rhinoplasty patients evaluated the effects of light-emitting diode therapy (LEDT) on postoperative complications. Patients were divided into a control group and an intervention group, which received LEDT using red light (660nm) three times daily for 14 days. Results showed that the intervention group experienced significant reductions in ecchymosis and edema, particularly during the first two weeks post-surgery, with ecchymosis improving significantly in both weeks and edema primarily in the second week. Wound healing also improved significantly at two weeks and continued to improve at one month. No adverse effects were reported, suggesting that LEDT is effective in reducing early postoperative complications and accelerating recovery after rhinoplasty.
