    This study investigates the use of line-field confocal optical coherence tomography (LC-OCT) in diagnosing alopecia areata (AA) by correlating its findings with histopathological and dermoscopic features. The study involved 20 patients with severe AA, revealing that LC-OCT can effectively identify characteristic features of AA, such as quiescent dilated hair follicles and keratin plugs, which correspond to dermoscopic findings like yellow dots and black dots. The results suggest that LC-OCT is a valid noninvasive tool for diagnosing and monitoring AA, potentially reducing the need for invasive biopsies.
