TLDR Koreans have lower hair density, larger hair diameter, and slower hair growth than Caucasians.
This study quantitatively analyzed the hair characteristics of 42 healthy Korean volunteers using an improved phototrichogram method. It found that Koreans had lower hair density, larger hair diameter, and slower hair growth rates compared to Caucasians. Hair density was higher in the occiput than the temple, and hair growth rates decreased from the vertex to the temple. Older males had slower hair growth and thinner hair on the vertex. The anagen ratio was similar between sexes. The study concluded that the improved phototrichogram method could be a valuable tool for studying hair diseases like androgenetic alopecia and evaluating hair growth treatments.
