TLDR A woman developed vitiligo from repeated eyebrow microblading.
A 28-year-old woman developed vitiligo due to the Koebner phenomenon after repeated microblading of her eyebrows over 8 years. Despite a family history of autoimmune disease, she was otherwise healthy. Examination revealed symmetrical periocular depigmentation and a stable depigmented patch on her forearm. Her diagnosis was supported by normal vitamin B12 and thyroid function tests, and a weakly positive ANA. Treatment included tacrolimus ointment, sun protection, and a potent topical corticosteroid. She was advised to stop microblading and referred to a skin camouflage clinic. This case highlighted the need for qualified professionals to perform aesthetic procedures and counsel patients on potential risks, especially those with autoimmune conditions.
