TLDR More awareness and education on iron deficiency anemia are needed in Riyadh.
The study assessed knowledge and awareness of iron deficiency anemia (IDA) among 1,068 participants in Riyadh Province through an online survey. The majority of respondents (84.3%) identified malnutrition as the primary cause of IDA, and many recognized symptoms such as weakness (52.9%), cold hands and feet (55.5%), and hair loss (62.1%). Participants also identified fruits, vegetables, and meat as major iron sources. The findings highlight the need for increased awareness and education on IDA to improve prevention and management, aiding both clinicians and patients in understanding and addressing the condition effectively.
