Kerion Type of Tinea Capitis Treated with Double Pulse Dose Terbinafine

    TLDR Double pulse dose terbinafine effectively treats kerion type of tinea capitis.
    In 2016, a case study was conducted on a two-year-old girl suffering from kerion type of tinea capitis, a dermatophyte infection affecting hair and skin. The patient was treated with double pulse dose terbinafine 125 mg/day and 2% ketoconazole shampoo for two months. The study found that clinical improvements were observed on the 35th day of follow-up, while a mycologic cure was achieved on the 60th day. The treatment was well-tolerated with no side effects observed. The study concluded that double pulse dose terbinafine is effective for treating kerion type of tinea capitis.
