TLDR Iron deficiency is not a significant cause of hair loss in women.
The study investigated the connection between iron deficiency and female alopecia, including 43 patients with alopecia and 46 healthy controls. It found no significant difference in serum ferritin levels, an iron status indicator, between those with alopecia and the controls. Additionally, the prevalence of depleted iron stores and iron deficiency anemia was similar in both groups. The study concluded that iron deficiency is not a significant factor in female alopecia, challenging previous beliefs.
