Inhibitory Effects of the ATP-Sensitive Potassium Channel Openers Cromakalim, Pinacidil, and Minoxidil on the Carbachol-Response Curve in Porcine Detrusor Muscle

    The study examined the effects of ATP-sensitive potassium channel openers cromakalim, pinacidil, and minoxidil on carbachol-induced contractions in porcine detrusor muscle. Cromakalim showed the strongest inhibition at concentrations of 10^-6 and 10^-5 M, while pinacidil also significantly inhibited contractions at 10^-5.5 and 10^-5 M, though less effectively. Minoxidil did not significantly inhibit contractions at any concentration. The results suggested that cromakalim and pinacidil could be promising for developing treatments for bladder disorders characterized by detrusor overactivity.
