TLDR Doctors should consider Netherton syndrome in patients with chronic skin and hair issues to avoid misdiagnosis.
This case report discusses two incidental diagnoses of Netherton syndrome (NTS) in siblings from consanguineous parents, initially misdiagnosed as pityriasis rubra pilaris and psoriasis. NTS, a rare genetic disorder affecting hair and skin, can present in various ways, making diagnosis challenging. The report emphasizes the importance for physicians to consider NTS in patients with chronic skin conditions and hair abnormalities to prevent prolonged misdiagnosis.
