TLDR Severe Hidradenitis Suppurativa increases missed and unproductive workdays.
The cross-sectional study from December 2018 to April 2019 found that the clinical severity of Hidradenitis Suppurativa (HS) significantly impacts work productivity in terms of absenteeism and presenteeism. Using Hurley staging, Physician Global Assessment (PGA), and Severity Assessment of Hidradenitis Suppurativa (SAHS), the study revealed that patients with 'Moderate disease' missed approximately 3.6 more workdays and had about 1.6 more symptomatic workdays than those with 'Mild disease.' Patients with 'Severe disease' missed around 4.8 more days and had about 2.0 more symptomatic workdays. Presenteeism occurred more frequently than absenteeism, and SAHS was identified as a reliable predictor for both absenteeism and presenteeism.
