TLDR Androgenetic alopecia significantly reduces quality of life in men.
This study investigated the impact of androgenetic alopecia on illness behavior and quality of life in 192 male patients. The average age of participants was 27, with most experiencing onset at 24. A significant majority (92.2%) were dissatisfied with their hair, and 60.5% attempted to conceal their condition. Peer teasing was reported by 69.8% of patients, and 59.3% of unmarried individuals believed hair loss affected their romantic prospects. Despite these challenges, only 17.2% sought professional treatment. The study concluded that androgenetic alopecia significantly affected the quality of life of the patients.
