TLDR Two boys had a rare skin condition needing to be differentiated from similar disorders, with unclear inheritance due to few cases.
Two unrelated boys were treated for ichthyosis follicularis, a rare skin disorder marked by spiny follicular hyperkeratoses, severe photophobia, and generalized noncicatricial alopecia. This condition needed to be distinguished from several other disorders with overlapping symptoms. The disorder seemed to be familial, but the limited number of reported cases made it difficult to determine the exact mode of inheritance.
