TLDR Hairy elbows may be linked to short stature, but the exact cause is unclear.
The study reported on four patients with hypertrichosis cubiti, also known as hairy elbows, who were investigated for short stature. Among them, two males were sporadic cases with heights at or below the 3rd percentile, and two females, a mother and daughter, exhibited disproportionate short stature with non-specific radiological changes and normal biochemical results. The study also referenced four other published cases, two of which were sporadic with normal height, while the other two were siblings with short stature whose parents were carriers of Weill-Marchesani syndrome. The researchers were unable to determine if hypertrichosis cubiti was linked to a specific type of skeletal dysplasia or to clarify its genetic transmission.
