TLDR Hairy elbows may be linked to short stature, but the exact cause is unclear.
The study reported on four patients with hypertrichosis cubiti, all referred for short stature investigation. Two sporadic male cases had heights at or below the 3rd centile, while two females, a mother and daughter, exhibited disproportionate short stature with non-specific radiological changes and normal biochemical results. Among four other published cases, two were sporadic with normal height, and two were siblings with short stature linked to parents heterozygous for Weill-Marchesani syndrome. The study could not determine if hypertrichosis cubiti was associated with a specific type of skeletal dysplasia or its genetic transmission pattern.
