TLDR Hibiscus leaf extract may help hair grow better than flower extract.
The study investigated the potential of Hibiscus rosa-sinensis Linn. (HRS) extract for promoting hair growth, using petroleum ether to extract compounds from the plant's leaves and flowers. The experiment involved applying a 1% crude extract in liquid paraffin to shaved Dawley Sprague rats and monitoring hair growth over 42 days. Results indicated that the leaf extract showed greater potential for hair growth than the flower extract. This finding suggested that HRS extract could be a promising natural alternative to synthetic hair growth treatments, potentially avoiding the harmful side effects associated with synthetic chemicals.
