TLDR Herbs and fungi can potentially treat hair loss effectively with fewer side effects.
The review from 2020 evaluated the use of herbal or fungal medicines in the treatment of androgenic alopecia, a common hair loss problem. The authors collected data from various electronic databases from 1970 to 2016 and described 23 medicinal fungi or plants, their possible mechanisms, and active phytoconstituents used in treating androgenic alopecia. The review concluded that the findings could inspire the production of new formulations for treating androgenic alopecia with more effective properties and fewer side effects.
