TLDR Hair transplants can help transgender individuals match their appearance with their gender identity.
This study reports on two cases of hair transplantation in transgender women, highlighting the procedure's role in aligning physical appearance with gender identity and alleviating gender dysphoria. The first case involved a 45-year-old transgender woman undergoing Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT) with 1,551 follicular units, while the second case involved a 37-year-old transgender woman using Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) with 1,750 follicular units. Both cases resulted in satisfactory outcomes. The study emphasizes the importance of hair transplantation in feminizing the hairline, which is crucial for transgender women seeking a more traditionally feminine appearance. It also notes the scarcity of specific research on hair transplantation in transgender populations and calls for more studies to improve multidisciplinary approaches to care.
