TLDR Hair shedding in children is normal and increases with age.
The study assessed hair shedding in children using the wash test on 31 participants aged 3–11 years. Results showed an average of 10.68 ± 3.91 hairs shed, which was considered normal for this age group. The validity of the method was confirmed by the χ² test. The study found that hair shedding increased with age, suggesting a potential prepubertal onset of androgenetic alopecia. The wash test was deemed reliable and useful for monitoring hair shedding in children.
