Frequency of Different Patterns of Hair Loss in Pakistani Men Using BASP Classification

TLDR M type hair loss is the most common in Pakistani men.
The cross-sectional study conducted at the Department of Dermatology, Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, Karachi, from August 2019 to January 2020, involved 157 diagnosed male patients with hair loss. The study aimed to determine the frequency of different hair loss patterns using BASP classification. The results showed that the mean age and duration of hair loss were 33.14±12.49 years and 1.89± 0.44 years, respectively. The distribution of hair loss patterns revealed that 21.7% were L type, 42% were M type, 22.3% were C type, and 14% were U type. The study concluded that M type hair loss was the most prevalent. This knowledge of hair loss patterns can assist in choosing suitable treatment plans.
